Collaborative Teaching

Forming hearts and minds together

The CCA Model

At Carey Classical Academy, classroom teachers and parents (co-teachers) partner closely in the learning process. Classroom teachers manage all aspects of curriculum planning and scheduling, maintain academic records, and lead students through their on-campus studies. Parents follow detailed assignments provided by classroom teachers to guide their students at home the rest of the week.

This model provides the structured support of a classroom environment while preserving precious hours together as a family and allowing parents to stay intimately involved in their child’s education. Compared to a traditional five-day a week school, our collaborative model gives families an extra 20+ hours per week together!

Here’s what this looks like in practice.

  • Monday - Classroom day
  • Tuesday - Home day
  • Wednesday - Classroom day
  • Thursday - Home Day
  • Friday - K-3rd Flex day (use this time for field trips, park days, appointments, errands, and just enjoy the extra time as a family). 4th grade+ Home Day

We thoughtfully arrange curriculum to maximize the benefits of both classroom and home learning as much as possible. That means you’ll typically see things like science experiments, group projects, and presentations scheduled on classroom days. Independent work and assignments that benefit from one-on-one interaction with a teacher or parent will be prioritized on home days. Literature selections will be divided - some read fully in class and others saved for home days so your family can enjoy them together!
